Job Description
- To teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses delivered by the Department and, as required, to teach on associated programmes offered by the university
- To supervise student projects and assist them in understanding assignment requirements
- Design and execute formative and summative assessment including marking that is aligned with student learning outcomes
- Provide feedback to students on their learning through student consultations
- Conduct research in areas as per discussion with Dean/Head of Department
- Publish papers and present papers at local and international conferences
- Other duties within the Department and University as required
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
- PhD in Special Needs Education, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a cognate discipline preferred with substantial experience as an academic researcher or equivalent after obtaining the PhD; Master Degree will be considered
- A minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a tertiary environment is required for this position
- Candidates must have broad-based experience in Special Needs Education across a variety of disability categories such as mental, emotional, physical and learning disabilities
- Record of successful supervision of postgraduate research students
- Evidence of outstanding record of research publications in highly referred international journal publishers
- Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds
- Excellent command of spoken and written English
OTHER JOB-RELATED INFORMATION:
- Able to undertake duties at different University campuses, if required
- Expected to work outside of normal office hours (including evenings, weekends and public holidays), if required
- Academic staff are expected to engage in activities associated with promotion, marketing and counsel prospective students at education fairs
